Hey! You've found Nat Ervin!

Freelance Coder and Sound Designer.

2014 - Coding Background

Once upon a time I started my journey into the coding world! I started a Bachelor of Computer Science at Adelaide Uni back in 2014 until halfway through 2015. In 2015 I found the Bachelor of Infomation Technology at UniSA would be better suited. I then decided to move towards the Systems Admin/Networking side of coding and proceeded to transfer to University of South Australia's Bachelor of IT (Systems Administration).

Over the course of my studies I learned the following languages/systems: Bash, C, C++, CSS, HTML ,Java, Systems Admin & Networking! After a period of self-reflection I decided to not continue with my studies and transitioned to one of my dearly loved hobbies: Music!

2017 - Music Background

I then started my audio-centric studies at Tabor College in 2017 and completed the Certificate III in Music Industry. This left me wanting to experience more of the audio world. Furthering on my skillset I wanted to specialize in sound design for games/tv shows and movies which lead me to SAE QANTM. I started the Diploma of Music Industry (Electronic Music Production) in 2018 and Graduated in 2019.

While at SAE in a group project, our group got awarded for Campus Best Major Project in Any VET Program. Pretty Exciting! The project we got assigned to was to re-create the foley for a scene from a series of pre-selected movies. We chose Toy Story as our project, we only had to re-create the foley and not the dialogue but we decided to do everything (ADR, foley and finding applicable music).

Check out the final video here!

After SAE I took a break and started my instagram account and posted my newfound love for sound design, designing different environments, taking on a few personal projects and experimenting! I then got working on a little server setup and self-hosting some microservices on a purpose built server.

2021 - 42 Adelaide Journey!

Around mid 2021 a friend referred me to an Ad at school opening up in Adelaide in 2021 called '42 Adelaide', I thought why not since I have a little background in coding! I studied my little coding heart out for a solid month and passed the piscine! Yay!

Now the fun begins with the school starting in September!

2022 - Progression of 42 Adelaide Journey!

Getting through the projects at a good pace, currently working my way to Exam Rank 02 which will let me access further projects. Reattemting it in the next few weeks!
